From December 8, 2011 to March 25, 2012 the Montpellier Agglomeration Fabre museum presents Subjects of Abstraction (1946-1962)
101 masterpieces from the Gandur Foundation for Art, Geneva and the Art and History museums from the city of Geneva.
Given the extensive array of works by Pierre Soulages in the Gandur collection, the Fabre Museum was the ideal choice for this exhibition. The proximity of the exceptional Soulages collection in Montpellier can only enhance the works presented by the Gandur Foundation, while offering
complementary content and situating the work in the context of Soulage's contemporaries.
The exhibition Subjects of Abstraction will underline the history of the abstract painting in Paris, from the middle of the 1940’s to the beginning of the 1960’s, by showing works of any beauty : all publics will be seduced, even the most reticent to abstract and contemporary art !
