The city of Montpellier has kept the reminders of its past intact and proudly protects the symbols of every era.

  • Lavish private mansions from the XVIIth, XVIIIth, and XIXth centuries, such as Hôtel de Varennes with its Museum of Old Montpellier, Hôtel des Trésoriers de la Bourse, Hôtel Jacques Cœur, which became the Hôtel des Trésoriers de France in the XVIIth century and now houses the Languedoc Museum, Hôtel Saint-Côme with its XVIIIth century surgical amphitheater, Hôtel Haguenot and Hôtel de Guidais, and Hôtel Sabatier d'Espeyran, which has recently been renovated to accommodate the Fabre Museum's new Decorative Arts museum.
