Sunrise walk from Antigone to the banks of the Lez river
Take a relaxing early morning stroll from the Place du Nombre d'Or in the Antigone district, down to the eastern side of the city where you will enjoy Antigone's world-renowned architecture before the city wakes up. Take the stairs down from the Place de l'Europe towards the Hôtel de Région for a walk along the banks of the Lez river. Heading to the right, relax along the tranquil parks and green fields overlooking the river. At the end of the walk, you can appreciate the massive new City Hall construction project, with its unique design and green surroundings.

An open market is held every Wednesday from 7:00 am to 1:00 between the Place du Nombre d'Or and Place Thessalie in the Antigone area.

Contemporary art
New: "Point of view" by Tony Cragg.
3 bronze columns nearly ten meters tall stand at the International Airport intersection as you come into town. A total of five majestic works by international artists are yours to discover on tramway line 1, including an homage to Confucious and human constellations.

And don't miss the numerous statues and fountains dispersed throughout Montpellier, from the fountain of the Three Graces on the central Place de la Comédie to their "lovers" in the Ephèbes fountain on Place de Thessalie. Looking around you may be fooled by a series of trompe l'oeil frescoes decorating parts of the town. These delightfully detailed artistic works match their surrounding neighborhoods as perfectly as real buildings. Discover them by the Saint Roch cathedral, on Rue de la Méditerranée, Place Saint Denis...

Camin Roumieu, along Saint James' Way to Santiago de Compostela
Discover Montpellier in an original way by following the tracks of past and present pilgrims along Camin Roumieu, one of Saint James' four routes to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.

Start at Rue Pila Saint-Gély for a short pilgrimage of your own through downtown's medieval streets, Montpellier's beautiful plazas (Notre-Dame, Compostelle, Canourgue, and others) and visit historical sites such as Saint-Roch's birthplace and the Saint-Roch sanctuary.

Stay on track more easily by following the bronze trail markers the size of a large scallop shell embedded in the ground.
