The visit
First you will discover a mangrove swamp, with its tangled roots, piranhas and caiman...
Then work your way through the flooded forest, in which live exotic white-faced sakis, tamarind monkeys and the renowned anaconda.
Next, enter into a dense forest with its gigantic ceiba tree, where you will encounter an ocelot, anteater and even a dangerous giant trap-door spider in the thick foliage.
Continue on into the mountain forest, green with orchids and tree ferns.
Get ready for Amazonian nightlife in the greenhouse grotto, complete with a Seba bat colony and armadillos.
Pass beneath a waterfall then climb up to the bridge that towers over the forest canopy. From there you'll be able to spy on tropical birds such as crested oropendolas, troupials and scarlet-rumped caciques.
Cross the swampy plain further on and have a look at ibises and spoonbills. All that diversity, right in Montpellier!
The Amazonian greenhouse offers an education center with trained specialists ready to help you understand the extent of your trip to the Amazon, its fragility and dangers, as well as actions for protecting the area.
